A collaboration was initiated with Alteqo BV, a Netherlands based company dedicated to producing glycerol derived products. The products are produced on industrial scale and are ready for applications in paints and coatings, pharmaceuticals and Home & Personal care products.
In collaboration with Insuplate BV, insulating foams have been developed with ultra-low formaldehyde release. By applying novel science, known insulating materials have been upgraded to meet the highest sustainablity standards.
Supported by NWO, Biofuran Chemical Products has started a collaboration with Hanzehogeschool Groningen and Gebiedscoöperatie Westerkwartier. The objective is to develop technologies that produce valable furan building blocks from natural waste streams from agricultural origin, brewing companies and coffee companies. Applications are foreseen in renewable foams, paints and coatings.
Based on oxymethylene ethers, Netherlands based ChemCom Industries has launched Farmsolve 3595. Initially developed as an eFuel, novel applications are being explored in the paints, cleaning and adhesives business.
In cooperation with CH Energy new markets are explored for tyre derived oil. CH Energy BV is a pioneer in the field of recycling of non-recyclable waste. That seems a paradox, but it is not. CH Energy has developed a unique process which is capable to converting all kinds of non-recyclable waste into usable gas and oil. The residual products of the recycling process can be separated for reuse. The main part of the residual products consists of pure carbon that is excellent as a raw material for new products. Any metals in the waste remain in their original state and are therefore also reusable. Components of tyre derived oil can be used for paints, coatings, printing inks and as industrial solvents.
June 1 2016, Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited Innolab Chemistry Groningen, a new testing ground for start-up businesses in the chemical sector. During the visit Biofuran Chemical Products had the opportunity to show the innovative use of bio-based furan materials for use in novel flame retardant polyurethane products.
Innolab Chemie Groningen will open its doors on September 26, 2015.
Biofuran BV will be one of the first companies entering the Innolab Chemie Groningen.
